About the role
JL Group is seeking a Road Construction Accounting Supervisor to join our JL Construction team in Dili, Timor-Leste. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of our road construction projects. You will oversee accounting operations, manage financial records, and provide strategic financial guidance to support the successful delivery of our construction initiatives. This role is essential to maintaining accurate project finances, regulatory compliance, and supporting project managers with real-time financial data to drive informed decision-making.
What you'll be doing
Supervising and managing the accounting team responsible for recording, processing, and reconciling project-related financial transactions
Preparing and analysing project budgets, cost reports, and financial statements to track project performance against approved budgets
Managing project invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate billing
Overseeing compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company financial policies specific to construction projects
Coordinating with project managers to gather financial data, clarify project costs, and resolve discrepancies
Implementing and maintaining financial controls
Producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for top management.
Identifying cost-saving opportunities and recommending process improvements to enhance financial efficiency
Managing payroll processing for construction site personnel and contractors
What we're looking for
Proven experience as an Accounting Supervisor or in a similar senior accounting role, preferably within the construction or road infrastructure sector
Strong knowledge of construction accounting practices, including project costing, progress billing, and contract accounting
Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems; experience with construction management software is advantageous
