About the role

Palm Trees Montessori School is seeking an experienced Academic Director to join our leadership team in South Tangerang, Banten. This is a full-time position that plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational vision and academic excellence of our institution. As Academic Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our curriculum development, teaching quality, and student achievement. This strategic leadership role ensures that our school maintains the highest standards of Montessori education whilst fostering an environment where every child can thrive academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

1. Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive curriculum aligned with Montessori philosophy and national educational standards

2. Oversee the recruitment, professional development, and performance management of teaching and academic staff

3. Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to enhance teaching quality and pedagogical practices

4. Establish and maintain academic policies, standards, and assessment procedures to ensure consistent educational delivery across all year groups

5. Collaborate with parents and guardians to communicate student progress, achievements, and areas for development

6. Lead strategic planning initiatives to improve student outcomes and institutional performance

7. Manage the academic budget and resources to support teaching and learning activities

8. Foster a culture of continuous improvement through data analysis, research, and best practice sharing

9. Liaise with external examination boards, educational authorities, and accreditation bodies as required

10. Support the school leadership in achieving the school's mission and vision

What we're looking for

1. Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree in Educational Leadership or Management is highly preferred

2. Minimum 7 years of experience in educational leadership, with at least 3 years in a senior academic or curriculum development role

3. Deep understanding of Montessori philosophy and pedagogical approaches, with demonstrated commitment to child-centred education

4. Proven track record of improving academic standards and student outcomes in a school setting

5. Strong knowledge of curriculum design, assessment strategies, and educational best practices

6. Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teaching staff

7. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders

8. Strategic thinking ability with experience in educational planning and institutional development

9. Financial acumen and experience in budget management within an educational context

10. Proficiency in English; knowledge of Indonesian educational requirements is advantageous

11. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
