About the role

RS Sedayu General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Refractionist to join our healthcare team in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our optical services department, providing essential eye care to our patients. As a Refractionist, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations and determining the correct lens prescriptions to improve patients' vision and quality of life. Your work is fundamental to ensuring that patients receive accurate vision correction and early detection of potential eye health issues.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive refraction tests and eye examinations using advanced optical equipment

• Determine appropriate lens prescriptions based on patient examination results

• Perform visual acuity testing and other diagnostic eye assessments

• Record detailed patient information and examination findings accurately

• Provide clear explanations to patients regarding their vision correction needs and lens options

• Maintain and calibrate optical testing equipment to ensure accurate results

• Assist in fitting and adjusting eyeglasses and contact lenses

• Support the ophthalmology team in patient care and examination procedures

• Maintain a clean and organised work environment adhering to health and safety standards

• Contribute to patient education regarding eye health and vision care

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification or certification in refraction or optometry from a recognised institution

• Proven experience working as a Refractionist in a clinical or hospital setting

• Proficiency in operating and maintaining optical testing equipment and instruments

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting eye examinations

• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members

• Understanding of eye anatomy, physiology, and common vision disorders

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

• Knowledge of proper infection control and patient safety protocols

• Physical ability to perform duties requiring standing and precise manual work

• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in optometry
