Responsibilities:?

Katz, Sapper & Miller (KSM) is looking for a technically strong and motivated Senior Associateto join our State and Local Tax(“SALT”)team. Core responsibilities would include but not be limited to:

• Assistwith theaccurateandtimelycompletion ofincome,franchiseand sales/usetax projectsunder deadlines and within budgets.

• Participate in all stages of state and local income and franchise tax.engagements, including data gathering, preparation of multi-state tax returns, and workpapers.

• Recognize potential tax issues,identifypossiblesolutionsand evaluate viability.

• Assistin handling routine questions from other KSM practice area personnel,clientsand state agencies.

• Supportwith state tax examinations, audit defense planning, notice responses,protestsand Voluntary Disclosure Agreement projects.

• Perform researchand analysisincludinginterpretation of state law, cases,administrativehearingsand othertechnical communications, etc.

• Stay currentrelativeto proposed state tax legislation and multi-state tax law updates/changes.

• Drafting of internal communications and presentationsrelativeto state tax law updates and training.

• Fostera positive work environment for SALT team members, as well as create a positive experience when working with other practicesin order topromote SALT within the firm.

• Take an active role in thetechnical and professional development of staff; Serve as formal and informal mentor to staff.

• Assistwith thefirm’spracticedevelopment efforts through involvement with referral sources,communityand industry activities.

Requirements/Qualifications:?

• A minimum of2calendar years of tax experienceand familiarity withstate and local taxconcepts

• Bachelors or Master’sdegree in accounting and/or taxation, or advanced degree (e.g., law degree) and/orrelated work experience.

• Positive attitude,flexibleandadaptable.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Time management: ability to prioritize tasks and take responsibility for a professional workload.

• Minimumof forty hours of continuing professional education isrequiredeach year tomaintainand develop technical and business skills.

• Proficiencyinuseof tax compliance software, legal research software, and suite of Microsoft Office programs.
